New National Planning Policies

On 25 July 2011, the Government published the long awaited review of national planning policies for consultation. This will replace the Planning Policy Guidance note series and reduces planning guidance from over 1,000 to 52 pages. The new policies are critical to all future planning decisions on local and neighbourhood plans and planning applications. You have until 17th October 2011 to express your views.

Details of the draft National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) can be found here.

A short summary of the main proposals in the draft Framework can be found here.

The Government wants the fullest possible scrutiny of the draft framework. A full 12 week consultation starts today. Details can be found here.
